Gmail Growl V1.2

V1.2 contains the following improvements:

  • New Feature: Gmail Growl can be used as as standard email program.
This does also work with Explorer SendTo and IE SendTo by using the previous standard email program (e.g. Outlook) for this.

  • New Feature: In the presence of another mail program like Outlook, the user can decide for each click on a mailto link to either use Gmail or the other mail program. This might be useful at work ...
  • New Feature: The tray icon changes to blue when there are unread mails. @Josh: Thanks for the hint.
  • New Feature: Only use https with Gmail.
    @Dane: Thanks for the hint.
  • New Feature: Improved icons with the work of Chris Ivarson.

Awesome update.. Thanks so much for the quick turnaround... Off to uninstall the Gmail Notifier from Google.

Gmail Growl cannot access my Gmail account. I initially thought my problem was that "Force https" was enabled in my account, but now that that https is apparently supported I'm not sure what the problem is...

@Dane: I cannot reproduce this with my Gmail account and "force https" enabled. When you log out from Gmail, can you access the atom feed at https://mail.google.com/mail/feed/atom using the credentials you entered in Gmail Growl?

Symantec popped up a boatload of virus warnings when I tried to install.

@Markus: Yes, I can access that feed just fine using the same credentials that I entered into Gmail Growl

@Dane: I was able to reproduce your problem; please check a preliminary V1.3 at http://dl.getdropbox.com/u/374932/GmailGrowl/gmailgrowl_V1.3.msi

Yep, V1.3 seems to be working for me now. Thanks!

Credentials are not accepted by Gmail.

@Phil: V1.3 fixed a bug with certain symbols in the credentials. Did you try this version?

Stupid, I posted comment in wrong entry. Yes, it is v1.3.
No symbols in password - but it is quite long - 18 characters.

@Phil: Can you please update to a preliminary version of Gmail Growl V1.4 and check if the problem is still there.

This version does a permanent file log to %TEMP%\GmailGrowl.log. The log does not contain you password or confidential information on new emails. If the problem persits, please report a case using fogbugz and attache the file.
