Gmail Growl V1.6.1.8 only contains bug fixes, especially for the number of unread mails shown in the tray and tray tip.
I just detected that the IMAP folder structure of Gmail depends on the user interface language. This causes the Gmail Push feature of Gmail Growl to break with non-inbox labels and non-English user interface.
A single new feature is included (thanks to Berdon for his suggestion): A single click on the tray icon shows the last notifications again.
All comments, suggestions, feedback, or bug reports are always welcome.

I'm having the same problem as Nic in previous post. I get no notifications of new emails but then it shows up as the unread mail number in the system tray.
In the latest version I get notifications that I have "1 old unread mail with label "inbox" ...".
Do you know what is making it think that my new messages are "old"?
It's a useful app, but a couple of problems. I want to see all folders except spam, but that doesn't seem to be an option. I can either have just inbox (which misses my forwarded hotmail) or everything, which gets the spam folder.
More significantly, I keep finding my PC grinding to a halt after getting a "Cannot connect to Gmail! Credentials are invalid!" message. From then on, gmailgrowlworker takes 100% CPU and PC is unusable.
And I'm getting the same comment as Gabe. Previous versions worked fine, but not I get no notification except for the System tray.
Same... no longer works :(
It will show in the tray, but not "pushed" to Growl. I tried removing and reauthorizing to growl, but did not fix.
Everytime my internet goes down, the app tells me that my proxy settings do not work, however, when the internet comes back up the app never checks to see if i am connected to the net and continues to dispaly the error message.
Markus, any idea when we will see a version that will;
-Allow multiple instances
-Configureable for multiple accounts?
Agreed with previous comments. This version has been very sporadic about working for me. If I ask it to "update now" the update is pushed out, but infrequently does a new mail message get pushed out even if the tray icon updates.
Thanks for a good app - hopefully you can find this bug.
I think growl for win 2.0 beta 20 breaks gmail growl for windows- i no longer get my updates for gmail :-(
Update... I had to re-generate my API key on prowl & re-install 1.6.1.8 gmail growl and now it seems that my mails are forwarding again. Sorry for the false alarm
Same problems here:
No desktop notifications even though unread count is accurate.
No Prowl notifications on my iphone.
The previous version worked better even though I was still having issues with it stopping its forward to Prowl after my Pc becomes idle for too long.
I am having an issue where it tells me there is a proxy error even if I have no proxy set.
@Keith M: Did you already enter your Gmail credentials? There is an error in V1.6.1.8 which causes a wrong message about the proxy when there is no user name.
@Gabe, ydant.openID.config.php, Fish Sauce: Can you please check if the notifications start working again after you pressed the button labeled "Reset" on the "About" page of the preferences?
@Eric: No, I don't have a estimate for multiple accounts. I would like to get the current bugs out first. But it is on the top of the list.
@Markus I will try that and let you know.
Interesting. My email and password load up intact in the preferences tab of the application. Since you mentioned them though I just backspaced one of the letters out and replaced it. After that the "auto-detect" and "No proxy" options both worked when I choose them. Thanks!
I reset it and it worked for about 5 hours. I have not received any Prowl notifications in two hours in which time I have received 4 emails. I have Growl set to only forward to Prowl when my PC is idle. I am also using the Thunderbird app and I continue to receive notifications. Any ideas????
My idea: It seems that the lastchecktimestamp (found in the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Gmail Growl\<mailaddress>) gets corrupted. I have no clue why.
Great app, but I have been having all kinds of issues with the recent updates as well. Mostly, I'm just not getting notifications pushed to Prowl starting with the last 2 (or 3) betas. I've had some sporadic success but for the most part it just doesn't work.
@Markus My growl for windows keeps crashing for no known reason, but it looks like resetting might have fixed the issue with no notifications. I'll keep an eye on it...
Markus,
I submitted a help ticket but it seems that messages with the same subject are not pushed correctly. It always sends the first email in the gmail grouping. Need to have it push the most current up-to-date message even if the subject is the same as a previously received email.
@Anonymous: This is the behaviour of Gmail, mails are bundled as conversations. The Atom feed used by Gmail Growl also behaves this way. I will have a closer look, but I fear there is nothing I can do about this.
I am also getting 50% CPU usage (i.e. 100% of 1 core) when my connection drops. I also get this at boot, because I manually connect to a network.
I have been getting a credentials invalid error a lot lately (when my credentials have not changed), which is only resolved when I restart gmail growl. Any idea whats going on?
This is just a bandaid until the issues get worked about, but is there a way to have it alert when the gmail push fails? At least then I know I'm not getting emails pushed.
I've been having the same issue where after a few hours of working fine gmail push fails at some point and I no longer get notifications until I go in and reset the checking.
@IamDanMcG: In V1.6.1.10, the tray icon contains green for push and red for non-push.
